A girl is living entropy - someone is screaming from the other side of the void - old lady thinks it's all kinda sexy - there's a woman in the middle of it all quitely going "please stop" - and EVERYONE is fucking.

Having THE most baffling time because this book is a bizarre (love) and genuinely a bit hard to follow (editing issues aside) but there’s something so charming about it? I’ve actually no clue what’s truly happening about 80% of the time and we’re just expected to understand things (or expected to vibe through it?) but hey I’ll continue.

I know a metric shit-ton of folks love this book, and I can agree that the concept is cute, but gosh I'm just really struggling with the rigidity of the writing. It's making it seem far less cozy and simply just mundane. Maybe it'll find its way soon?

Just read a couple books so poorly written that I almost got sent right back into my slump. Fighting for my life right now. But hey, my wife stopped putting so much social shite on the calendar and a new Mac Crane book is out. Save me, basketball lesbians.

In SUCH a reading slump. Life is so busy and my wife keeps adding things to the calendar. Will my enjoyment of books ever come back from the war, I'm begging

Okay this one actually caught me COMPLETELY off guard. While I have my criticisms, I fully admit to being a bit devoured by this. Wonderful writing on a line-level, interesting characters that I hope to see fleshed out in book 2…?

Really torn on this one because on one hand, the writing is cheesy but quippy and well-paced. The world is crazy interesting and I like the concepts presented--a bit of fantasy, a bit of sci-fi. It's an easy, light read that doesn't dive too far into itself. But my god is this book repetitive, especially when our lead talks about having a baby, being a new mother, milk, etc. Get on with it, mate.

Finding myself struggling with this one. It's a statement that feels absurd to say because, in almost every way, the POVs are more interesting than Priory. But he middle of this book draaaaaags, and while there are some wonderfully intense moments, the overall story just isn't capturing me in the same way the first book did. Not bad in any sense of the word, but missing that special something.

I think I really like this book, but it's not entirely what I expected. It's lovely on the sci-fi-tinged mythology front, and I love the expression of gender (and its fluidity, parts and all) and pronouns. But man, I didn't expect so much sex lmao. Either way, a fascinating read that is quite well-written (some words even I had to look up, wild) and touches on some really great stuff. Will continue.
