Too fast a pace, too little explained inner thoughts and motivations. feels shallow.

Hmm, dunno. I dont like how the points of view shifts - one sentence is her voice, another one - his, it is difficult to keep up. Another thing is intimate touches that is uncommon to the times and unexplained but happens so early in the book, sorta loses the drama that should be building and seems to be unauthentic too.
