Just finished reading Félicie est là.

It’s about how out in Jeanneville in the French countryside beyond Orgeval, Maigret got involved in the senseless murder case of Jules Lapie, and either he self-identified with the murder victim or fell for the chief murder suspect. But something funny happened to his psyche, apparently. But whatever it was, it passed and became only a temporary state, just to solve the murder case.

Out in Jeanneville in the French countryside, beyond Orgeval, Maigret got his psyche into the murder of Jules Lapie, got under the skin of the protagonists of the murder case and wouldn’t have minded jumping into bed with the saucy chief suspect, apparently.

Somewhere a few chapters back, Flāvia requested to leave the boarding school, presumably to return to Buckshaw.
By 91% of the story read, she not been kicked out as predicted.

Flavia is still banished to the big, bad T.O. and has just discovered that but for her own family’s financial generosity to the dastardly boarding school, the school would seem to have had to close down permanently, like due to a total dearth of any other development funding. So now in thanks, she’s being coached as a cadet in the mysterious arts and crafts of some arcane spy school.

Flavia’s been banished to a roomy but gloomy boarding school for girls in the big T.O. Ont, Canada.
And the first syllable of her name Flav- rhymes w brave !

Could hardly believe what the heck Flavia got up to and on p. 148 the justification she gave for it all was that her emotions were writhing inside like snakes in a pit.
Sorry to rain anyone’s picnic but that is a textbook definition of schizophrenia and since she’s a child that would be childhood schizophrenia -it’s sort of incurable. I don’t really want to read about a crazy life.
