Natasha is starting From a Certain Point of View: Return of the Jedi (From a Certain Point of View, #3)
I may have to come up with a new category, just to have a place to shelve this book. Something in between "finished" and "dnf." Because, while I'm enjoying most of the stories I've read, I don't think I'm up for another 30-something story set within RotJ

My daughter is reading this and she said she likes it so I borrowed an e-copy and am reading along with her!

I read the first chapter. I liked the writing but I'm not sure there's enough here to pull me back in. It seems like it's guilty of my biggest pet peeve: a fantasy world that is just like ours except for one huge thing that somehow leaves everything else unchanged. And the reviews on here are pretty bad. So, we'll see. It's going back to the library today. Maybe it'll circle back into my life but... it probably won't

I was wholly immersed in the first two chapters and am excited to return to it at the beginning of the year. Hopefully sooner than later.
But for now, I must return it to the library so they stop sending me stern emails.

Lol I basically just read the intro so far and if/when I return to it I'll probably reread it. So I guess I just wanted to note that I did begin this and that I'll probably have to buy it (and not as an e-copy) whenever I do decide to take the plunge.

I actually read a little past this point but if I ever come back to this, I'll wanna start at least this far back to the beginning, if not further, But I'll probably never come back to it. I loved "The Dawn of Everything." I'll probably check out Graeber's book about debt. Or maybe it was the writing of the other author of TDoE who I really clicked with. We'll see. But I had a hard time sticking with this title.

Only got a chapter in and it's way overdue at the library. I might read her other book, How to Do Nothing, first, and then see how I feel about returning to this one. It's not that I dislike it. But I like other books more and this one just isn't pulling me in.

This is interesting but I don't know if I'm going to finish it. I read a good chunk while traveling (and I only had a few books with me). But it's been two weeks now since I picked it up and it's due back at the library, so... we'll see. But it's October now and I think I'm in the mood for something spooky and autumnal right now.

Barely into the book and they're already taking Pinker to task. I'm loving this so far

Returning this to the library today. Will I ever become curious enough about what happens next to check it out again? Only time will tell!

Wish I hadn't waited so long after checking this out to begin reading it. I'm only two stories in but it's already overdue. Loving the weird sweetness of it already

Not going as fast as I'd planned, but we're doing it. I think we're all enjoying how weird and violent these are and how capricious (even though we don't actually use that word) the gods (and fate) are.

I'm not DNF'ing this, but I am taking a break for a bit. The library wants it back and I'm out of renews so it seems like a good time to give myself some space from the story.
I honestly can't decide if I dislike it or I'm just not in the mood for it.
I've left the main character in quite the cliffhanger. We'll have to wait and see if I'm invested enough to come back to find out what happens next

The plan is to read one of these to my girls each day. If we do 4 or 5 a week I'll be pretty happy.

Had to take a break from this because I foolishly waited until it was already a week overdue to begin reading it. Excited to jump back in.

I really hope there is something satisfying waiting for me the conclusion of this book. It's not much at all what I expected. I can enjoy the occasional romance novel. I read long books often enough. But I cannot, it turns out, easily make my way through a long-ass romance.
Nothing about it is "bad," but wow is this not clicking with me.

So there's this whole part where *mild spoilers* attempts are made by an older man to sexually assault Jamie, something he does to many boys who come across his path. And it's largely played for laughs (where it doesn't for attempted rape of women) which seems kinda gross and off-putting to me.
I mean, I get that some *characters* would think it's funny, but I feel like the book does too and I just don't like it.
