I'm trying to resist reading too fast so I can retain this in as great detail as possible. "All knowledge is political intervention," and other ideas from South Asian cultural studies I'd love to read in greater detail.

The protagonist is so racist, but so is the his characterization. I'm also really annoyed at how little the author appears to understand about how shit works in America. If a professor asks his class if they like blowjobs and one of them says yes (believe me, in Brosechusetts it would have been WAY more than one), they aren't gonna kick the student out. One guy with an agenda CAN'T kick a student out.

I got up to one poem that was just "A man that cries --a gift."

She's still publishing a bunch of blatant non-poems as poems.

Really good observations about the human condition, old school sexism and era-typical heteronormativity aside. I particularly like the observations about the love of a father versus mother as a non-literal heuristic.

I thought it was going to be a humor book about not knowing how to be a grown up (sorry, person who gifted it to me--but that's why I hadn't read it) but it's got really useful tips to deal with a wide frame of life stuff. The tips range from kinda stupid (tidy up in general while you're doing other things) to really decent advice about stuff like cross-country relocation and cooking chicken.
