I found this book by mistake, but it was the right book for me at the right time. I love the way the work melds fiction with biography with some mystical aspects blended in. I love the way Natalie and Rose's relationship has to change becuase of Rose's diagnosis. They both become brave as their ancestor does as well. Just lovely...

A mixed bag, but the section about feeding rescue workers ion 911 is really lovely.

Well, this is as good as I'd expected in the development of rich, fully-realized white male characters, and a vivid setting. But it's also as bad as I'd feared in its depictions of women and people of color, so basically everyone who isn't a white male. I am doing my best to appreciate what I can and be a critical, anti-racist reader at the same time. Not an easy task, but still worth the read...I think...

Was feeling pretty crabby about Britt-Marie until she started coaching the team. Now I am feeling much better...
