I’m loving this series, and discovered a new fantasy author. Two good things!

Michael K Martin is starting The Mercy of Gods (The Captive's War #1)
I loved it! I’m really liking Corey’s new series. It’s removed from the Sol system, and it reminds me of the great epics by Peter Hamilton and Alastair Reynolds.

Michael K Martin is on page 82 of 400 of Paradise Lost and Paradise Regained
Surprisingly easy to read for a book from 1600’s. I feel like I need a bible with a
Concordance to get all of the places and names. Very fascinating. I think this was released after the King James Bible , and after Shakespeare. I like it for its direct and simple prose. This and Dante I regard as some of the first works of modern fantasy.

Michael K Martin is 66% done with The Steampunk Trilogy
This book revels in shocking the readers sensibilities. It’s a tough read for me. Walt Whitman and Emily Yellow Rose of Texas is slightly less in my face. The contrast between Victorian setting and verbiage and pornographic and racist characters was initially interesting, but is getting old.
