It’s just so good! If it weren’t for cooking and eating multiple Thanksgiving meals, I might have finished it by now.

“The main cables that hold up the Golden Gate Bridge are nearly seventeen feet longer in the middle of a sunny day than they are in the middle dale of the night.” Fascinating!

Love this: “When I can’t make, I draw to find that rhythm again, to create that little bit of forward momentum that is the only thing that can slay the dragon of inertia.”

So... right now I'm getting a DIVERGENCE meets THE GIVER meets GATTACA vibe. I like it!

Not nearly as scary as I'd hoped for, but the history of the haunted houses is intriguing.

Ugh! Make it stop! Kvothe is not a likable character; he's smug, self-absorbed, and suffers from an extensive superiority complex:

"'I see you laugh. Very well, for simplicity’s sake, let us assume I am the center of creation. . . Let us hurry forward to the only tale of any real importance.' His smile broadened. 'Mine.'”

SERIOUSLY?!

I really want to like this book, but I just can't get past the writing. The main character has 40 different names - even his alias sounds like his real name (Kvothe vs. Kote). The text is riddled with clichés and the purple prose is just too much - my eyes may begin to bleed soon.

Whoa. Teen angst, sexual confusion, and giant praying mantises. It's like a bad car wreck. So horrific that I must keep reading.

I will never look at the FedEx logo the same way again.
