Oh well....fast forward 10 years and the description of the sculpted jaws and the bluntness and the self assuredness just make me roll my eyes. Never got to any political point yet. Looking forward to it

Btw....was Ayn Rand an autist?

Ok....off to a "good" start....

Only a dozen pages in and it seems like I might be on track for one of those "loved it at 19 hated it at 30" reviews 😄

To clarify, I didn't read it before, but I read Atlas Shrugged about 10 years back and I kinda loved it. I liked the new (for me) political perspective but also the sturdiness and moral clarity of the characters.

I've not even gone through half of the book, but I feel I need to write my thoughts.

I don't particularly like this as a book. It might have worked as a series of articles or as podcast episodes, but I feel it's not written as a book. Or, I don't know for what audience

I read "The selfish gene", "The gene:an intimate history", "Guns, germs and steel" and others related to evolution and they all feel more scientific

This feels like a fitting replacement for "blood, sweat and pixels" ☺️ doesn't it?

Oh well.... this is going in the onHold bin 😔

Not because I don't like it ( although so far it didn't particularly impress me ) but because I'm at a moment at work dealing with insane deadlines and I REALLY can't handle having my blood pressure up the second time in a day because of this. It's really bringing me flashbacks instead of making me unwind...

I hope I'm not gonna regret this :) but....so far....great! Muuuuch better than expected. I was thinking it just a hype, but ...it's..... emotional, philosophical, funny, a bit politically incorrect maybe :) really just a bit :)))

👌

Trebuie să mă declar învinsă si de asta. E suficient de interesantă încât as putea continua.

I'm putting this one on hold. Can't concentrate enough to follow it. At least not at 11 o'clock just before falling asleep. I'll probably give it another try some other time....

Despite all the eye rolling over the simplistic spoon feeding of the precise feelings Amir is going through, something struck a cord for me

I f***g cried over the injustice Amir caused to Hassan and Ali.

Might not be the most subtle book in describing the internal struggles of the main character but it sure reached it's goal with me...

How did I choose them??? This books feels to me a lot like "100 years of solitude" which I'm reading at the same time. And both have the same mix of real and fantastic which apparently I don't particularly enjoy. But....there's still time for it to grow on me....

hanging in there, but......not my cup of tea....confused by all the aurelianos and jose arcadios.....and.....not particulary captivated by the plot. I think I'm more of a "black and white" type of person; give me a book based on real events or a full on SF and I'm good. Here, I find myself just rolling my eyes and losing interest.....
