How can such an awesome premise be so boring in execution? Has the Daevabad trilogy spoiled me for all other Middle Eastern fantasy ? Maybe

I just can’t wait until this is over— I’m listening to it at double speed just to finish it. After a promising beginning the middle drags with multiple povs of characters that are indistinguishable from one another

The only reason I’m going to finish this is because I’m home sick with the flu and listening to it at double speed on audiobook. I haven’t read any of Link’s other work but this is tedious.

I loved the first two books in this series but this last one is like a bad romance novel

DNF—wow was this book poorly written

I am loving this book! I don’t understand why people complain about it— it’s a southern gothic novel about what a horror show childhood is; what’s not to like?

I enjoyed Fourth Wing but this book is proving tedious— not sure I will continue with the series if there are other books

I expected more from this book. I thought the writing would be more literary and lyrical. What I’m getting is Christian melodrama. I guess I’ll finish this because my dad recommended it and he read a lot of Octavia Butler on my recommendation
