Maybe it’s just the audio book but this novel is just not working for me.

I shouldn’t have started this book. I don’t enjoy horror, even worse horror suspense. I basically skim read this book just to figure out what happened.

Much better this time around.

Still find the first quarter slow going but once past it’s a fantastic book. Can’t wait for the sequel

I’m trying this series again in audio. Never got past the second book.

I read this so quickly the first time so doing a reread to dive into all of the details.

These books just keep getting better!

I want to read the next book in the series but have forgotten most of the story.

Wow! So glad I tried this book again. It was wonderful. I think it should never have been bundled with the other two books. Instead it should be read with the Penric novellas.

So good! I have read several portal fantasies and this was an epic magical adventure.

It’s not perfect, especially in the first half where there’s a lot of information shared. Fortunately second half makes it worth the work required to get there.

The trademark dialogue was very evident as well as the slow burn romance.

I can’t wait for the sequel.

This story holds up even after more than 20 years

Much better than the previous outing. The story was interesting and we learned more about younger Pen’s adventures.

This story grabbed me from the first page and hasn’t let go. I am no longer a fan of space military adventures but this one seems to miss the negative tropes.

My annual reading of Georgette Heyer’s debut novel.

I found this story a bit harder to get into. The plot was very straightforward but took so long to get there.

So slow…nothing is happening and she keeps repeating the same thing over and over

Trying this again

I wanted to like this story. It had all of my favourite elements… time travel and a love story (enemies to lovers). I just couldn’t get used to the style of writing. I felt no empathy for the characters. They were nameless and faceless, without substance.

I was dreading reading this book because Eric was such a jerk in the first two books. I shouldn’t have doubted Klyie! I am killing myself laughing.

Don’t judge a book by its cover. This was more than a barbarian in skins with lots of muscles.

Well this is a pleasant surprise. Gripping from the first chapter.

I got the audio book but I don’t like the narrator. Going to wait for the ebook to become available

I just can’t get into this one. The plot is plodding. I don’t care about the colonists. Murderbot fun snark is missing.

They keep getting better. Much less mysticism and more action. Robin and Raven evolved and grew through the course of the story.

First instalment done. Waiting anxiously for the story to continue.

Finished reading the online serial but the final book with the last chapter won’t be published for several months. As expected, Gordon and Ilona delivered an enjoyable story.
