so pissed off about the second sex I’m starting a new book who’s surprised

this book has been one of my biggest let downs and I’m trying so hard to not dnf it but you can only read so much about how men hate women and infantilise women and wish they never grew past early puberty before you get sick of the regurgitated word vomit. why does every chapter say the same shit It’s soooo boring. and i know It’s an old book but god everything is the same ?????? like am i missing something

i hate when men read a situation wrong and then make it out to be the girls fault. men when an attractive girl wants to be just friends with them: *distraught sobbing, insane tempter tantrum* , ‘i thought you liked me!!!!’ waa waa. like shut UP ur insufferable and idiotic

the book is reminding me how much better the movies could’ve been if they focused more on her and who she is outside of her relationship with edward. the tide pool scene??? hello??? that would’ve been captivating

how does edward seem so much more lively in the book compared to the film 😭😭 maybe i just need to rewatch the movies but i feel like i can picture him more vividly in the text. also i hate his smugness he’s so SMUG all the time YOU ARE NOT SLICK !!!

my entire tiktok feed is edits about how bella was destined for so much more than edward and i got emo so I’m due for a reread + I’m annotating this time so wish me LUCK!!

Alice’s parts are so boring i hope they pick up soon cos god, I’m so tired of hearing about her sister and her raging attitude towards her poor step Mum.

curvy femme lesbian rep rise !!! let’s go lesbians !!! i love complex characters that actually have lore which explains why they’re the way they are. i love the way this author writes women loving women. this is such a fun read sprinkled with deeper more intrinsic subplots. i know pride was last month but It’s my birth month so queer books WILL remain 🏳️‍🌈🫂👩‍❤️‍💋‍👩

the relationship dynamics are so good omg I’m eating maria and sabine uppp i love the queer undertones so much and the wlw yearning that’s subtly forming. maria getting jealous over the idea of sabine having other companions is so real. i hate maria’s husband I’m so excited to see If they kill him and run away together !!

this author is so good omg. this is the first of her work that I’ve read but I’m already eating it up!!

will never get over how visually appealing this book is. everything is described so vividly. i feel like I’m there with them. the film has only elevated this experience tbh. i read about the mountains and i can SEE the mountains. glorious.

just watched frankenstein (5 🌟’s — what a BRILLIANT film!!). i need to finish the book soooo badly the movie filled me with courage and determination. such a beautiful story portrayed with such depth. the visuals were astounding. I’m excited to read and visualise the scenery as the movie projected it to be. i love when books get adapted into film!! makes it so much more fun to read :’)

okay this reads a lot better than i anticipated given It’s a book where a girl gets sold to demons and one happens to be a sex demon… It’s giving wattpad 2016. but there was some world building which is surprising given that in the past usually they just throw u straight into sex scenes lol and there is actual relationship dynamics… also not anticipated. enjoying it so far ngl.

I’ve heard sm good things about this book. kinda nervous, i hope it doesn’t disappoint me!!!
