Sandy Koufax was no doubt one of the best left handed pitchers of all time. He threw four no hitters in a row, his first game he didn't have great stuff but the others were unbelievable. Koufax had to retire at 30 because of arm problems. Pete Rose was in a 5 for 44 hitting slump before he made history. He got a hit ever game for 44 games passing the current record of 37.

As Curt Gowdy said, “he was the greatest hitter to ever live,” and that was true considering Ted William last season he hit .316 and hit 29 home runs. His final game was September 28th 1960. Willie Mays was in a major slump at the time and he was not feeling comfortable with himself on or off the park. When he stepped up to the plate the first time he hit one deep left, then repeated that 3 more times.
