Imagine reading this for the very first time in 1908 and wandering if sweet little mole was going to die. The suspense of Mr Mole's walk into the Wild Woods is top notch!

1. Did poop mean something different in 1908?
2 Are all animals anthropomorphic in this world? So the horse and the canary are as intelligent as rat, mole and toad but choose to live in a stable or cage?
