I preferred Herbert's earlier work. I used to admire him for not beating around the bush, but now hes indulging in details that just seem unnecessary and almost cringey, like a teenager writing fan fic to fulfill their fantasy. Also, none of the characters are really well written. They all talk the same and speak in a way that no one actually talks. But, I'm reading it for the story
