What is power, after all, if everybody else has it too?

Mr Randolph’s story is so beautiful I had to read it twice.

“Have we been telling ourselves too many bedtime stories in a world where there are no happy endings?”

I've listened to 100 people talk about this book ... and I still feel like it is very unexpected.

I'm fairly sure Perry has not met a five-year-old before.

This narrator BREATHS into the recording. FYI.

I need to stop reading books that are "like The Night Circus"

This is my first Kate Quinn (I'm not a historical fiction girly) ... I expected more of her writing.

Oh, I think this is the right book to end the year with. I'm totally immersed in the story now.

Oh my goodness, no one is as much of a mess as this girl. I'm DYING for her from second-hand embarrassment.

I’d rather stay up and finish, but alas, tomorrow is Monday yet again.

When I read this the first time, I was reading so many classics, and it was so natural to read the older style of writing. Now that it has been ages since I read anything like this it is so much more of a challenge.

Oh, that’s a turn.

I remember being obsessed with Heathcliff.

You know those books you start and you’re just instantly IN the story. That is this book. Five star beginning for sure.

Is this ... too much?

Someone told me today they hated this book because the author spends so much time trying to show that she is smart. He bought a Vonnegut book and told me I had shelved it wrong because he found it in fiction. Sigh.

This makes me feel smart ... which is to say, I'm enjoying it thoroughly.

The audio is good, but this was SO much better as a physical book.
