Guys, listening to this book is like watching a tsunami roll in. I know it’s going to be terrible, but I cannot stop listening. 🙉🙉

With my new job, I spend much of my day reading legal documents, past meeting minutes, and a WHOLE LOT of other mega boring stuff. Consequently, by the time I get off work, I am in absolutely no mood to sit and read. Luckily, we moved into the country in February and (ahhhhhhhhh - that’s supposed to be angels singing) I now have a 13 minute commute to and from work everyday. So this is what I’m listening to.

This book is written by the creator of Kid President, you should TOTALLY read this.

2023 Caldecott Honor from amazing Jason Reynolds, I’ll start after I finish Spare!

I made it to 368 before I fell asleep! The magical Mr. Sandman sprinkled his magical sand in my eyes, but I fought back that sand even with watery heavy eyes until ALAS dreams entered my mind and my book dropped to the floor. SO CLOSE, yet so far away. Wish me luck tonight!

When you read reviews of this book, you will hear people bitching about the fact that Harry writes of the 25 people he killed in Afghanistan. Of course, they don’t speak of ANY of the other content around these death facts. Stupid. I hate that people do that…. By the way, the book is still good! It’s Sunday and it’s snowy so I’m going to stay inside and read. I’m hoping to finish today!

There is A LOT of penis frostnip in this section…. But I have to go to bed now.

This book would go SO much faster is my husband didn’t want to keep TALKING to me. It’s fascinating.

This book is mesmerizing, heartbreaking, and beautiful! I don’t even want to stop reading it each night, but DAMN YOU sleep!! You come when I’m not even ready!!!

One of my FAVORITE students ever was reading this during SBAC testing on Tuesday and she asked me if I’d ever read it! I hadn’t (if you don’t know, I’m not a huge fan of books where animals talk, yes that includes Charlotte’s Web 😱), so I downloaded the book, and started listening! It’s some funny stuff! I’ll finish it today!

You know, if are one of those people who is feeling like you’ve missed the boat on your career, or of you have kids you FEEL can’t make up their minds about what they want to do with their life, PLEASE read this book. What an amazing perspective. It’s definitely not a self-help book, but a book that helps the reader understand that a wide range of life experiences and jobs is actually incredibly beneficial.

I’m listening to this book and am on Chapter 3.
