FFS, romance novels never end, do they? They just Peter out...

Pffhhhh! Love bud!

I forgot I was reading this for like a week. That’s not a great sign...

So far we have Casey, Chad and Charles as named characters. I feel I will be needing a spreadsheet.

Aw man! They skipped over the scene—the one referenced in the blurb. That would have been so cool to see and get in Darcy’s headspace as she jumps into action.

So I DNFed book 2 at 34% because I hated Ivy’s cold, overachieving character. This one focuses on her supervisor who I liked from the previous book. This one is starting out a bit slow, but we’ve got both mains and it looks promising.

I’m...American Sign Language and British Sign Language are not mutually understandable. There has to be a good explanation why an Englishwoman is fluent in ASL.

Oh no, chapter eight is in third person! FFS...

Another first person POV, this one starts off in the middle of office action (not that kind of action...the bureaucratic kind) and seems off to a promising start!

Awwww...just aww! What’s with all the feels, huh? I’m standing in the middle of the train station all foggy-eyed and fuzzy (finally at the right stop) because I did NOT expect to get punched in the feels just now. Proper review coming soon...

I just got off at the wrong stop, had to get the next train and then overshot my stop!! Because of this damn book that I can’t put down! Argh! And I’m abusing exclamation points! And still on the train!

The author has a love affair with the words: “core” and “folds”.

So Cassie’s angsting about her mother not accepting her being gay because her mother believes it’s a choice. Then Cassie proves this by, for all intents and purposes, choosing to be straight.

Okay, starting over. Let’s see if I can get a bit further than last time. We have our MC who has decided to stop being a covert lesbian and pretend to be straight because she’s tired of “lying”.

They’re going shopping, they’re at a restaurant with a frighteningly well-behaved infant, they’re bickering about wedding cakes and outfits. What is not happening? The plot!

I forgot I was in the middle of reading this book. I guess I should keep going...

I actually am enjoying this book more than the last one. There is significantly less Claire in it and I realize I dislike her a lot. JJ continues to be the screwup she is but add to the mix young kids, lots of taking about JJ’s sordid last which sounds way more interesting than what I’m reading now, and more talking. Claire and JJ are already sniping at each other like an old married couple. Fun times ahead!

Why am I doing this to myself? We’ve already had stale, emotionless dialogue, forced Kodak moments and suddenly smoking hot sex where we are informed of how much chemistry these characters have. Okay then.

This just didn’t do it for me. The MCs complete lack of logic just annoyed me. Maybe I’ll come back to this but not right now.

This is starting off...strangely.

Ummm... so she’s not going to lie anymore by lying even more? Okay.

I let out a Darth Vader-ish Nooooo! And collapse with my head in my arms, sobbing like a teenager fool. Okay book, you win. I am vanquished. My god, I have never had my butt kicked this hard by a novel in a long time. I am mourning for the loss of something within myself.

For the first time Arabella noticed how Rebecca smells, and it’s of course amazing and not at all what former guy was like. This book is driving me crazy! It’s highjacked my life. I’m holding my head in my hands between scenes.

We just had the first scene with actual feelings and it ends in the typical “breakup” run out the door and no communication (not that there was any relationship to speak of, holy crap this book gives a new meaning to slow burn). I’m so close from just giving up but I don’t want to DNF this one.

Now they’re painting. This book is never going to end...

Okay, the sexual tension has begun! At least on Rebecca’s part. This is a sloooooow burn but it’ll get there eventually (in the next book).
Ouch!

Arabella wields her snark like a pro, I like her no-nonsense attitude with a side of sass. No sexual tension yet, but the ice queen is thawing a little.
