Sure am glad my Kindle has a dictionary feature. Have found quite a few words like "calumny" (the making of false and defamatory statements in order to damage someone's reputation) and "persiflage" (light and slightly contemptuous mockery or banter). I rather like the idea that even past the age of 60, I'm still learning new words.

Watched the film "Philomena" on Netflix and had to find out more. Forget the priests, what the Magdelene nuns did to these poor young women was horrendous.

As I read this book, I am reminded of my own childhood, growing up in a small town in Ohio. Everyone knew everyone else's business and you never noticed the town's insularity, or its flaws until you leave for a while and come back.

After Maureen Corrigan's NPR review, my expectations are somewhat lowered..but so far I'm enjoying the book.

Dismayed to see "Go Set a Watchman" listed as "To Kill a Mockingbird #2." Yes, it's a sequel, but that makes it sound like it's part of some cheesy series like Twilight or Fifty Shades of Grey or The Baby Sitters' Club. This is Harper Lee, for God's sake. Show some respect.
