Amazing, positively the best in the series so far, did 73% in one session, cost me some sleep, but I simply couldn’t put it down.

Really struggling with this one, have paused several times to read other books and come back to it, it’s brilliant writing but somehow I don’t care for our young duchess

One of the first books i bought for my kindle, close to 20 years ago, and somehow it’s just been there in the queue, so now it’s time.

Can’t recall when I last was so infuriated with a book, every second chapter I want to DNF and then the next one is brilliant.

Just completed the Look to windward section along with the novel and it’s still brilliant (as long as you can skip the more academic comparisons between different Banks biographies)

Pears is amazingly versatile, this is my third book/series by him and it ranges from historical fiction to slapstick art detective stories and now portal/time travel/Alt History/Sci-fi. But common for all are inventive writing of high quality that just drags you in.

Simply amazing, such a shame she didn’t write more novels.

Incredible how events that seemed fundamental at the time, like the massacre at Tiananmen Square, are more or less forgotten here 35 years later, makes you think how much of what we find important at present, really matter in a few years time.

The section about Khmer Rouge is probably the most depressing I have read, but how can it be otherwise, but glad it’s over.

Reading the Danish version, my.first Danish novel in years, so far quite interesting

I know i have read this a while back, but remembers nothing of if, Maybe because its a very different culture book, we all know that some of the characters are from the Culture, but the word has not been mentioned yet.

Impressive, but also very academic, walkthrough of Bain’s work. I intend to read this while I go through all the culture novels again.

Quite interesting, kinda “Brideshead Revisited” meets “The Magus”

This has been on my To-Read list for ages, so when the great Kris Kristofferson passed away the other day, I suddenly remembered a movie version where he starred and decided it was time. Anyway so far it’s pretty good

Reynolds, Revelation Space and John Lee - pure Bliss

Interesting and quite touching, you know it’s special, when the most rational and likeable character is a squid in an aquarium

Amazing - a near perfect mix of crazy humour, cartoon like characters, info dumps on religion and history and a not to unrealistic franchised future. But most of all crazy entertaining

Long overdue for a re-read (listen), liked it but didn’t love it first time around, this time it might be true love.

A mixed bag so far, but unmistakably Banks

Interesting and imnaginative concept - but looses steam midways. 3.5 stars rounded up.

The setup with AI's posing as gods, is brilliantly thought up and executed, our protagonist strugle with her mental disability adds an extra dimension to the story, but there are some repetitive midways that does'nt really go anywhere.

I will probably pick up the sequel, even though it got some mixed reviews.

Simply amazing, I feel a 5 star review coming up

Needed to see what all the fuzz was about, so far I’m not disappointed

There might be a great story here, but the detached narrative and the many characters, made me realise I simply don’t care enough to continue

Slow going, but interesting - Vinge can be a little dry and intellectual so I'm breaking this up, and reading other novels in between.
