Christ this book is infuriating. It's not the length (over 1000 pages), but I'm a quarter in and no real semblance of a plot has presented itself. On hold.

I've started this book, and no doubt will finish it, but I believe I haven't met a more boring treatment of a sociological idea wrapped in speculative fiction...ever. The 'Theory of Bastards' is already well explained well before the dust storm hits, and so where it's got left to go now, I cant know. Sure I'll return to it and find out, but no doubt it's going to be tediously ploughing the same line. Terrible cover.
