Kathy is starting Into the Gray Zone: A Heart-Pounding Military Thriller with a Gripping Political Twist. Join the Mission to Save Lives! (Pike Logan Book 19)
I was interested in this book because of the setting in India. The author hits on some real global issues and provides tidbits of global cultures. Unfortunately I don’t like his characters. Who believes the President’s son would be sent out as part of a black ops team? His hostage calendar exceeds any military skills he might have. And who would trust a boss to watch your back when his wife is on the team?

Great premise but drags. Characters are flat. Mermaids have just shown up. If the dolphins die it may be a DNF

Kathy is starting Phantasma (Wicked Games, #1)
The premise of the Phantasma hellish magical competition is intriguing. Ophelia has spent her whole life being taught the family magic and as soon as she’s on her own, she does the opposite of what she was trained to do.Setting is disjointed. . Modern day profanity yet ladies riding in horse drawn carriages. So far one hunky phantom sex interest. I expect there will be more. Not sure how far I’ll get.

Kathy is 64% done with The Complete Detective Sophie Allen Mystery Series (DCI Sophie Allen #1-8)
The author seems to pick a sex theme to play with in his books. Book 1 was a good mystery. Book 2 added bondage. Book 3 was group sex. Book 4 has toned down to an interesting, but convoluted murder plot.

Kathy is starting The Morningside
At p 106 I’m beginning to be a bit bored. Lamb’s backstory was interesting but so far everyone else is just a name. The world building is very sparse. This is supposed to be the Drowned City, but there is no explanation of why or how. People are being invited to repopulate the city, but they don’t have jobs or schools. They get daily rations and the residents of Or inside seem to have places to go but to what?
