My mom recommended this book to me and she was right. It's a family drama with just a little mystery mixed in and I am gob smacked and deeply stressed (in a good way)

You can tell this was written in 2000 because it is so casually offensive (she picked up the dead mouse even though most women would scream for their husbands. She also casually uses the r-slur later in the book) and it continually has me going like 😧😳
