3.5 stars - interesting premise and tries to do a lot at once (and mostly succeeds!) but the end and the caliphate same out of nowhere for me and just seemed like it was added on to set up a sequel

This book had some interesting insights and juxtapositions. I was going to give it 4 stars until the last 50 pages which dragged and I don’t feel like it “ended”. No moment of reckoning (even though she tries to force one with Trump’s election)

this book was really quite awful.
