Cronin is especially gifted at crafting his character--I feel like I know them and I *care* about what happens to them, even the ones I don't particularly like.

This is quite lovely, but it's also so very sad.

We all need guilty pleasure re-visits of stuff we read when we were WAY TOO YOUNG, you guys.

While I like this book, I'm not really sure what it's about. It seems to be lacking the crime or investigation that is generally central to this type of noir-like stuff.

Friends, this book was written by a dear friend of mine about the journey her husband went through to earn Olympic Gold despite his struggle with Lou Gehrig disease. Buy it! Read it!

This is just so much more delightful than I thought it would be. I've been afraid of Bolaño because I've heard he does those epic GGM-like sentences that I often love and find annoying all at the same time.

I'm liking this so far, even though it's a bit slow-ish.

It's just simply time to read The Big Sleep again, y'all.

While I'm very much enjoying this work, I'm finding that it's best read a few pages at a time--there's so much beautiful visual work to absorb alongside the really haunting descriptions of young Jeffrey Dahmer.

I'm beginning to like this book more. Just to be clear, I really dislike the majority of the characters. A lot. I need to know what's happening, though.

I rarely abandon a book, but I might abandon this one. I am just really irritated by the personality of the person whom I think is the protagonist, which could be disastrous.
