This book is definitely hard work... there are moments of genius, but there are plenty of moments where it feels like DFW is trying hard to obfuscate the point he's making or dancing randomly around it or still deciding if he's even making a point.

Take 2 on this book... I abandoned it part way through while reading the Man Booker Prize longlist last year but not tiring of it this time. Some genuinely funny moments in a pretty bleak story, definitely worth a second visit.
