I’m sorry but how are all of Lily King’s characters across every book somehow pretentious as hell writers with a Massachusetts connection? The kids in this are like the arrogant weirdos in college that went out of their way to make you feel really dumb. I am also worried the Indian character in this is going to lead to an accidentally microaggressiony territory but only time will tell on that one…

Honestly this book is terrible, I want to DNF but reading for a book club

Kinda all over the place

I genuinely don’t get all the 5 star reviews. I get that it’s nostalgic in some ways but also like it’s not written with a lot of nuance and portrays a 6th grader as oh so philosophical…idk it’s not a winner for me at this pt

I feel misled by the reviews bc it does not feel like a 5 star book like the ratings led me to believe but I suppose only time will tell.
