She's such a master. Just totally absorbs the reader with every story, without pandering, without holding back. These stories are so narratively sound AND so weird and human. I keep meaning to pay close attention to her craft, but I get too involved in the characters, and then I return to reality at the end of each story thinking, "How did she do that?"
Why wasn't this required reading in all of my MFA classes???
