It's been 84 years....

I’m doing that thing where I’m wanting something very different than the author wants me to want. I think I’m too cynical for this book. (See me not saying too old?)

Reading this with a couple of family members, and surely it can only get better from the starting point of the cover. 😂

Here's how it happens. I want to read Percival Everett's new book _James_ soon, and I figured I'd reread Huck Finn first since I haven't read it since junior high, and 10 years is a long time. And then I realized I've actually never read Tom Sawyer, so I'm doing that first. We'll see how quickly I manage to get to the originally intended book since I'm going through two classics first. 😂

The only reason I'm not sad this is near the end is because book 2 came out on Tuesday 🥳

The first I read by Konigsberg was so good that the expectations are high...

That thing when there's an endearingly buttoned-up character whom you can't wait to see come undone in the best way. Dammit, he better, or Allen and I are going to have words.

I could never have predicted that it would be this series that would make me not even want to be in the same room with a mate trope ever again.

I'm loving this, despite my glacial reading pace this week. If KJC's Magpies pulled in a bit of the Harry Potter world, it might look a little like this. Skillful prose!

The thing about lit fic is that sometimes you really have to choose your timing carefully in terms of the neurotic, cringey character's head you'll be in.

Never let it be said that I don't have a tiny bit of an optimist (delusionist?) streak. Half of my friends who've tried this, DNFed it, but something is calling me.... 😂
