Ironically hard to stay engaged with this book. I feel it’s not using the graphic novel medium to its fullest. The lack of relationships make it challenging for me to trust or take interest in the narrator.

Even better than I expected. In the audiobook, Mariah narrates as if she is speaking intimately and authentically with me. She drifts into singing clips of songs referenced. She vulnerably opens up on trauma she has triumphed through - family, marital, racial, self-care … I recommend the book for every Mariah fan and anyone looking for a rags to riches tale of a pioneering musical genius.
