ione's magic is confusing. she's supposedly under the Maiden card's hold, and yet she's doing and saying a lot of things that directly contradict that. she "can't feel anything" but is definitely able to blush and feel anger. hmmmm not consistent => minus points...

scene with ione and the highway men was SO. COOL.

female characters other than fmc:
- nerium (evil stepmother)
- nya (evil stepsister)
- dimia (evil stepsister)
- mom (dead)
- aunt (haven’t seen since ch.1)
- ione (bewitched, acting evil)
- jespyr (no personality (yet…?))

thats a 1/7 conversion rate for compelling female side characters, 2/7 if im being nice. it’s just not good enough. is it so impossible for authors to write well rounded female characters?

so refreshing to have a fmc that isn’t snarky just to be contrarian and actually runs away when she’s told to! bar is in hell

im enjoying this so far but the dialogue makes me feel a little stupid. every little action and feeling is entirely spelt out. it leaves little to no room for interpretation or nuance. it's so far a very tell not show story. but what a story! i hope the execution improves?
