I like the narrator a lot. He fits the feeling of teh book well. He went a further step up in my evaluation today when he correctly pronounced the word victuals.

Popular depictions that I have seen of King Arthur portray him as only a hero. So far this book gives me a different story. The two major issues I have with Arthur's character is that he uses Merlin's magic to disguise himself so that he can sleep with another man's wife. Then he pulls a king Herod trick and orders the murder of all babies of a certain age because of a prophecy that one of them will be his downfall.

The audibook narrator pronounces paean like peon.

A very promising beginning. The beginning of the book quickly and powerfully gets the reader acquainted with the ideas behind the French Revolution, Yet the story never flagged. I have high hopes that the ideas will keep coming, but even if the book turns sharply toward more action, the author has already caused me to trust that he will do it well.

I am still waiting for an explanation of what keeps the characters so passive and accepting of the eventual fate they have been aware of from a young age.

Enjoying it very much! Several questions I have had from the first two books are being answered.
