Ugh I thought this might be funny-instead it’s almost as preachy as Theo of Golden, which I couldn’t even finish. This one all finish, but I’m not loving it.

Chapter 1: the stranger in the museum is initially described as having black curls and black jeans. Then he has gray hair

The horror of the yesteryear passages of this book make me think of Little House on the Prairie, a series based in the author’s real lived experience-and I remember not all families in olden 1800s were loveless and violent.

I’m still in part 1, but so far this chick seems pretty smart and business savvy. Are we supposed to hate her? I’ve read she will go back in time & I assume suffer & learn the error of her ways- but this woman is making $$ & has a big staff & apparently enjoying life & limiting her kids’ screentime, a good thing. Plus so far she has not said she wants to do anything other than live a modern life

Not sure what I think. I was caught off guard & annoyed by the objectification bordering on sexual harassment of the waitress at the private bday meal in a book that celebrates its sensitivity. If you’ve served in someone’s private home you know how inappropriate & uncomfortable that kind of talk is. I think this author is just much better at male characters.

Very reminiscent of Louise Erdrich

Imagine changing your name from Lugner to Levavi and criticising Netanyahu! I love this book

First thought: in the 1960s college application essays were not grueling like today- you would write a 300 to 500 word personal statement and probably submit the exact same one to every school. You also would probably only applied to a couple schools. Even in the 1980s it was like that.
