I’ve moved to Storygraph but am keeping this account for now. It probably won’t be updated with what I am reading, though.

This book is terrible. I’m trying to slog through it because it’s the last book in the series, but it’s an incoherent mess.

This book is a dumpster fire. I didn’t hate the last two, so I was hoping it would be readable at least, but no. It is awful. I’m going to do my best to get through it because I am vaguely interested in the wedding but, yikes.

Can already tell this one is going to take a while to get through. Not because it’s bad, but because I tend to listen to audiobooks before bed and this one makes me too mad too sleep!

this series was one of my faves when i was in my 20s, but i guess i have outgrown it as i am struggling to make it through this book. i’ll probably persevere for this one but i think my plan to reread the entire series is out.

I’m trying to get through this book as it’s due back at the library tomorrow, but it’s a bit of a slog. I’m not sure if it’s the personality of the main character or just that the plot requires her to be TSTL in order for it to unfold the way it has, but it’s a slow, frustrating read and I want to reach onto the page and shake her. Hoping it gets better but not holding my breath.

I think I’m about halfway through the audio book now. This started really slow and I was worried for a bit that I wouldn’t be able to get into it, but about chapter 20 it started to pick up and grabbed my interest. It’s a bit of a hard read because many of the characters aren’t likeable, especially at first, but they grow on you.

So I know I just started this book but, at partway through the first chapter it is just not engaging my interest. A bit basic.

A Heart of Ice - 2 stars.

I’m not sure I can put my finger on what I disliked about this. The characters were unlikeable, especially Ennis. And the “romance” just seemed forced.

A Hint of Frost - 3 stars.

The world is interesting, but the writing felt a bit clunky and the romance was kind of meh.

I read this book when I was young, but have mostly forgotten what happens. So I have been listening to it via audiobook. Unfortunately I got nearly halfway, and am now struggling with it. May pick it up again though.

Realised after picking it up that I have already read most (possibly all?) of the short stories in this book. Will probably continue the reread when I reread the actual series.

I have been really enjoying this book, but as I have the audiobook and tend to mostly listen to audiobooks before bed, and this can be a difficult listen, I haven't been putting it on as much as I have other books.

I used to love Feist and kept reading the MANY books about Midkemia long after most had given up. But maybe I need to accept that Feist's writing hasn't aged well.

He has improved at including female characters, but he persists in viewing them through the male gaze. And it was upsetting to see one of the characters from the first book fridged in this one.

I'm not saying I won't finish, but it's low on the list.

Had a lot of trouble getting into this one. It’s going back on the shelf for “maybe later”.

Dear goddess, this book. Why do I do it to myself? I knew making the purchase was masochistic, but somehow I had forgotten how tedious some of the arguing and relationship stuff can be.

I've been dragging my heels a bit reading this one because I find the way Ethan and Merit deal with conflict and jealousy in their relationship quite difficult to read. I'll get through it, I'm sure, but it feels quite backward.

I'm finding it hard to care about this book. The previous Owl books were pretty good romps, but there's something off about the pacing of this one. Or maybe it's Owl's mood. Whatever it is, I think I'll have to come back to it in a bit.

This book sounds interesting, and it is to some extent, but the way it's structured doesn't really flow making it a slog to read. I keep thinking I should finish it, but life's too short.

So far this is surprisingly enjoyable. It seems to be a fairly typical urban fantasy with elements of paranormal romance. Coherent world-building is making up for the eye-rolls induced by the latter. And I do have a soft spot for police procedural urban fantasies. Quietly hopeful it will be a decent book.
