Bostock's commentary on Aristotle is insufferable. Why not write your own *Physics* if you're content to insert your opinion about how Aristotle could have said it better ever paragraph?

Wow, this is terrifying and good.

The quietness and hiddenness of the beauty of the soul (spiritual growth happens in silence, apart from show and onlookers). The unexpected power of sorrow and suffering to lift us higher to the ultimate Good than we are willing to realise. After death comes resurrection.

Only 27 pages in and we've covered the world-Geist of Hegelianism, Heidegger, nouvelle Theologie and Rahner as roots of the relativist elements in liberal post-conciliar Catholicism. This is gonna be good ☕🍿

Pushing this to my social sciences next reading phase as peripheral academic / text book. The audiobook is far too complex to listen too while running!

Very good so far. Happy to see that Ortland (unsurprisingly) has the nuance to recognise that the Protestant and Catholic understandings of Justification, while they differ in the way they parse the imputation of righteousness (factitive vs. declarative) still both fully recognise the thoroughly scriptural reality of salvation by grace through faith. Good distinction between core reality and philosophical parsing.
