I did not like chapter 2. It veered off into concepts like the law of attraction and manifesting outcomes. That’s not my cup of tea. I also didn’t like calling the chapter “The G Word” where G represents God. I suppose it was done to be inclusive and appealing to all faith walks but I felt it trivializes the role of God in the lives of people of faith.

Chapter 1 was good. It was about exploring what you believe about certain things and how those beliefs can subconsciously affect your behaviors.

Chapter 4, Profile of the Lukewarm is really hitting home for me. It’s so easy to fool yourself into thinking that you are devout but in reality, you’re a lukewarm Christian. This isn’t a put down. I see it as an opportunity for reflection and growth. An opportunity to grow in faith and draw nearer to God.

This book has an agenda that is clear by the stories the editor has chosen to include. This is not the “Catholic experience”. This is the “Catholic experience of the very poorly catechized“. These writers went to catholic schools but it’s clear that they didn’t learn their faith at all. Perhaps they were far too busy poking fun at the Nuns and misbehaving. I’ll keep reading, though.
