Going to power through, but this is so not my type of book. Its in the vein of Big Swiss and Rabbit Hole where the main character is an obsessed loser who cant help but be an asshole to every single person in their life with no self awareness.

In a way, this book is about money/capital vs community

Michael Connelly could never write Eddy Flynn, but Cavanagh could write Micky Haller in his SLEEP.

Micky constantly goes on and on about how he needs to stand for the underdog and thats why he can never see his kid, but if he cared that much he would be a public defender, not a private defense attorney and he would make time for his kid. His ex wife does it for her kid and she works for the DA! And then Micky RUNS FOR DA? Like he doesnt give a fuck about anything but money and i wish would stop saying otherwise.

This is why these books are almost too bad to read--in this scene theyre using legal jargon:
"Did you read the 123?" She asked. A 123 is a legal blah blah blah that blah blah blah because this reason. "Yeah i read the [exactly what the last sentence was] and i think it points to ABC" i replied. ABC is a legal blah blah blah government blah. "I can see that since ABC deals with [exactly what the last sentence was]"

The sustained hostility toward women is really something huh

Im seeing now that steve cavanagh vastly improved on series like these because this ones tough to get through.
Micky is now okay getting opiates,
The investigators relationship with biker gang has been told to us at least two (same details just like all the other times).
We are told that the investigator and lorna are married (first mention on this one).

Like it feels so unedited.

The lack of continuity bothers the piss out of me

My biggest problem with this book is that it develops bosch over the team micky has been building. Like what about patrick? There are no lincolns in this lincoln lawyer book. But we sure get a lot of hong kong drops from the last bosch book with nothing more. This doesnt feel like a LL story.

Learning on book three i need to have read 21 other books to understand the Bosch pov actually pisses me off

My favorite part of these books is when the lawyer man thinks he can get his ex-wife back and is often surprised when that is not the case
