Let me start with a DASH of brutal honesty... I started this book 2 years ago....
January of 2024.... I've read at least a hundred books since then. Howeverrrrr! I Love Red Rising down. I promote it to any who will listen! So since I recently convinced a friend to read Red Rising and they flew through it, I told myself we could suffer through Golden Son together.
And SUFFFFEEERRR, I did! But I'm still here.

I went to my University library to FINALLY pick up my textbooks. I turned to walk out and this big beauty was staring at me from the shelf. I gave in to my urge and then realized it was on my TBR anyway. Welp, off I go for 700 pages.

Chapter. One. I am on chapter gosh darned ONE! the prologue led me to believe i was about to read a sweet wholesome fffawkin book. Buuuut then I got to chapter one and she said WHOSE NAME?! Ugh lemme go find out what kinda foolishness Harvard has produced 🤣

I came into this book KNOWING I was going to be devastated. The cover alone let me know. But Pirateaba... man this author is a master of making you feel the feels! I was both enraged and devastated, but with two freaking sentences- IN THE MIDST OF BATTLE- I am smiling from ear to freaking ear. I know when I go back to finish chapter 18 that will probably be ruined. But still lol

I've begun talking to the characters in the book. That's how you know it's good lol

Nah I wanted aunt Alecia to crucify Amber ass in court. I don't like this I'm so sorry change of heart on the stand. I want blood

I'm annoyed that these guys keep leaving DNA evidence at crime scenes. First Kai flicks a toothpick OUT OF HIS MOUTH and onto the childhood friend he just murdered, then his brother throws a blow pop FROM HIS MOUTH onto the floor of the store they just murdered a man in... lord, help me.

I don't think "sluggishly slithered" is sexy... 😂😂😂

These people are very open minded lol. They're all taking things very well.

I still don't really know what the heck is going on in this book... but I definitely am not rocking with Nikki right now. She seems very sus 🤔🤔

I just can not understand. Living in a world so full of magic and magical creatures... learning so much new shit... after FOUR FUCKING BOOKS of magical bullshit happening... why the fuck is Cailin struggling to accept that the fucking chicken is NOT A CHICKEN

eyes slowly glazing over... the only spark of emotion I'm having right now is to roll my eyes every time the 'heroine' goes limp from terror. Not that I don't sympathize with her situation, but good lord she's hot and cold.

more than halfway through the book and I am more than irritated with Olive and her insecurity. she constantly blathers on mentally about her mistakes made in a year that no one remembers but her. I don't think she gets the whole second chances thing. she's still allowing her past to mold her future. good read so far though. not my usual cup of tea, but I'm engaged.
