So far this is 100% what I expected, given the quality of the TV show.

Not really liking this yet: reminds me a lot of The Boyhood of Cain, and I wasn't a fan of that one. But it's not long so I might stick it out, we'll see.

IDK, maybe the narrator wouldn't dislike bottoming so much if he stopped insisting you only need spit.

I’m not super enjoying this so far, so I’m hoping it’ll all come together in the end.

It’s been a while since I read a book that so accurately portrays being 12 and feeling that being gay means there is something desperately wrong with you.

Enjoying this one so far.

Sometimes I'm really connecting with this, and other times the prose is so poetic that it's pulling me out.

There's just no stakes when you're narrator is 22 y/o with dead parents. Of course she's not tempted to sign the "confession" when she has no one on the outside the system can use as leverage. Also, if I got committed I'd be worried about how the mortgage would get paid, but we get nothing about her having to stash her stuff at a friend's pending her inevitable eviction.

How is Intersections in Real Time so good while this is so bad :(

I think the solarium the author keeps talking about is just Green Sector from Babylon 5.

Shouldn’t have a dude in a mental hospital eating grapefruit, I don’t think.

So far this is really bad, but this man writes amazing TV so I’m hoping that translates soon. Also, I wrote a 45-bullet-point tumblr post about his Babylon 5 episode that this book seems to be largely a retread of, so my hopes are high.
