During Califia's sadly still relevant spiel about the harm of sexual puritainism, he mentions the need to do more to address the larger problems, ie opening dv shelters. He states the need for hotlines to help prevent or stop parents from sexually assaulting their children. It gave me pause b/c instead we've created a category of monsters known as "pedophiles" & have done little to actually stop the problem. Damn.

The least realistic thing about the novel so far? Getting an ongoing psych appointment through UNC student health services in less than a day.

Continuing on my jag of unlikable protagonists in literary fiction. The difference is that I think Baldwin knows how terrible his protagonist is, but Plath does not. I think that if this was a long novel, I'd probably DNF.
