I actually might DNF this one. There’s a lot of telling and not showing. And there are some parts that feel entirely shoehorned in to appease a certain audience. For example:

“The devil offers power only to women.”

“What about trans women? How does that work?”

“Demons do not care about bodies, they only care about souls.”

Eyeroll. Why not just include a trans witch in the story?

I don’t know how this book isn’t well-known. A guy-punch to the psyche.

Okay, don’t make fun of me, but Emily Henry books are perfect palate cleansers for some of the dark shit I read.

Highly recommend the audiobook. Maggie Gyllenhaal is an amazing narrator.

Meh. Might not even finish this one.

Shaping up to be one of my favorites by Jane Austen, and that’s saying a lot.
