Oh boy do I have some hot takes about this one. I mean so far it's basically apologetics for fascists, imperialists, and the bourgeoisie. Sorry thats just the truth 🤷

Reading it because my elementary schoolers are reading it too. Let's hope my opinion turns around on it.

I started this book expecting it to be a pretty expendable pulpy YA trash dnf ... but now I'm halfway through it. pleasantly surprised to say the least

something I love about danger slater: he thinks about disgust in such a unique and potent way. sure, there's gore, blood, and guts here, but there's also a lot of stuff you'd never think about. like, "wood is gross, fruit are gross, gardening tools are gross;" you just don't get such weirdly true insights from anyone else. love it so far.

this one is pretty good, but not even close to as good as his other novel I've read.

this one isn't nearly as good as snow glass apples. it honestly doesn't even sound like his voice.

I'm only 30 minutes into this book and I can already tell I'm going to absolutely love it. Wow...
