Starting this a little early as I'll be going away pretty much as the BR begins and I want to attempt to actually keep up with this one this time, lol

These are a lot lighter and extremely easy, kind of mindless even, but in a very enjoyable way - much more than I expected.

David really nails these vocalisations, but more especially these emotional ties that are so imbrued in the work. It's absolutely beautiful to be able to see how this shows and pays off through the on-screen counter parts, too, and clearly therefore these connections and emotional processes have really been deeply thought out. The added life that he's breathed into these iterations is wonderful so far.

I’m barely a breath into this and I can’t get over this, passing over paragraphs just seeing red.

As a queer person with an unrelenting history of uproot and even today with home only being a concept - one that is in constant flux, even still - this very much resonates.

Not going to lie, I keep zoning out. The writing style between this and TLtL is like whiplash.

How did this copy make it through to print? There’s so many grammatical and spelling errors throughout.

Curious that despite the build up, then the reveal of the horrors he inflicted, I don't want Mycroft to die - certainly not at the hands of Dominic. I mean, obviously he's narrating this entire history, but still, the sentiment remains.

Hello sweet delicious irony in the fact I had bared my frustrations just before that reveal, and then of course Mycroft's 'expectation' that I was to leave.

And so, the veil of ambiguity is torn away and we learn of Mycroft's crimes. Just a little severe. Yikes.

My previous frustrations still remain, but overall more interesting again.

On one hand, I feel like I need to give this a break bc even still I am frankly struggling to give a shit.

It intermittently has small moments of actual interest, but outside of that it's just a lot of noise.

On the other hand, if I do give it a break, that will break me away from the intricate flow of the narrative & struggle to get back into it.

I want to be given a reason, by the book, why I should give a fuck.

I’ve yet to find any kind of emotional connection to this, which I find is hampering my experience.

I did a whole lot of organising around my house last night, and decided to clear off a chunk of space from my (little) bookshelf (I had to start almost entirely fresh when I moved interstate because of Reasons), and made a decent size pile of books to donate

The pile is comprised of couple lingering from childhood that I had kept all these years, or ones that I simply know I won't get to. De-cluttering is satisfying

I'm really enjoying this, and turns out that enjoying it in larger chunks at a time is even better, slipping into that flow of the narrative.

But one thing I find particularly contrived & absolutely trying far too hard is the breakdowns and "translations of gender" while trying to come across as futuristic conceptual, how beyond they are..etc it simply isn't organic and feels insincere - its distracting at times.

Poor Mycroft, will he ever get to eat? lol

With my schedule so off this week all I’ve been able to manage is a chapter a day really. But interesting how little bits of information and story is already beginning to weave, look forward to the inevitability of more of that

it kind of just throws you right in huh.

What is it about the end of the year that makes me want to read, more than any other time of year?
