The Glass Castle
I am really enjoying this book. Some crazy entertaining parts to it and some appalling stories too. The pace is slower than I would prefer but as human dramas go, narrated by child, it's pretty special.

I am really enjoying this audio book. Jennifer Ehle reads it beautifully, and the old English is delightful. It is slow going, but lovely in audio.

The Intelligent Entrepreneur: How Three Harvard Business School Graduates Learned the 10 Rules of Successful Entrepreneurship
So I am officially giving up on this book. The most irritating business book I have ever come across. 'Pretentious' is putting it lightly. Time to write my review.

The Intelligent Entrepreneur: How Three Harvard Business School Graduates Learned the 10 Rules of Successful Entrepreneurship
Just started this audio book today and not sure i will last too long on it unless it loses the egotism, in the first few minutes all i remember is I, my, mine, I, my, mine...hmmm

Lessons from the Boot of a Car: For Entrepreneurship, and for Life
I'm one of those people who believes culture eats strategy for breakfast. If the spirit within the organisation is not right everything starts to suffer. "The classic founders trap" ... quite common when the founder generation moves away (from the business). You don't dictate, you relate...dictators always crumble in the end.

We Need to Talk
19 May 2010. Want to curb the university drop-out rate?...Here's a brilliant idea proposed by a friend: send high school students to university before they finish high school. ...Many university courses, such as psychology, are not dependent on what one knows from school...A strong mentorship programme is critical, and open regular feedback...

Lessons from the Boot of a Car: For Entrepreneurship, and for Life
It is very difficult to create a connection (with your customers) like this if you simply do what all your competitors are doing. People make friends with individuals not with crowds. Therefore your individuality as a business and a brand must come across strongly.

Lessons from the Boot of a Car: For Entrepreneurship, and for Life
At that time (80's) South Africa had precious few leaders with any credibility at all. If I was a thought-leader it was only because the situation was vacant.

Lessons from the Boot of a Car: For Entrepreneurship, and for Life
Building a nation and building a business have more in common than some might think. To become a winning nation South Africa needs to create jobs - millions of them year after year. Only then can we alleviate poverty, generate sustained economic growth and meet the aspirations of our people.

Freakonomics: A Rogue Economist Explores the Hidden Side of Everything
No one is more susceptible to an expert's fearmongering than a parent. Fear is in fact a major component of the act of parenting...The problem is that they are often scared of the wrong things. Separating facts from rumours is always hard work...

Freakonomics: A Rogue Economist Explores the Hidden Side of Everything
An incentive is simply a means of urging people to do more of a good thing and less of a bad thing. There are 3 basic flavours of incentive: economic, social and moral.

Just One Evil Act (Inspector Lynley, #18)
Started reading a copy in the ships library while on the Queen Elizabeth cruise in med in October and couldn't finish it, so pleased i found it in the local library at home! Have read all the inspector lynley books, good to burrow into the story again.

Predator (Kay Scarpetta, #14)
Not my favourite scarpetta novel but better than blow fly, i felt. The older scarpetta thrillers are like comfortable homecomings while these two are almost experimental with new concepts, which is good as times change and so do readers i suppose. I do enjoy the personal storyline about Marino and Lucy, i miss it when it's not there.

Blue Gold (NUMA Files, #2)
I must be tiring of numa after reading a few of this series and finding them all too far-fetched and rather predictable. Usually an environmental issue is tackled and this was no exception with the privatisation of scarce global water resources forming the main storyline. It's time to try some other adventure authors.

The Horse Dancer
Amazing book. I find it hard to believe that this is Jojo Moyes only book about horses, as she has captured the beautiful Boo so well and his special relationship with the young girl. A good storyline and an inspirational read.
