Reading this book is hard and really forces me to accept how instead of attempting to fallow a narrative I can appreciate the beautifully written prose and how this book elegantly constructs the mundane

I'm enjoying this story, but I genuinely had to rip out the endorsements page because it was called a "feminist retelling" and that caricature of this book is so off-putting. This is Carmilla fanfiction, which is fine and was why I picked it up, but the comparison of Lenore to Laura puts both of the women down
