Mini-rant, why are 99% of parents in historical romances so unhinged (that is, if they aren’t already dead)?

I probably shouldn’t be reading this but the arranged marriage trope is my one weakness.

Not sure that reading about the importance of getting outside in nature is the best thing to be doing while the wind chill is -12°F. 😏

A very Catherine Moreland sort of heroine, and the author knows it. (This is intended as a compliment) ☺️

I think I am dreading the betrayal that must come, and am thus dragging my metaphorical feet in finishing this book.
