Okay, so still a quiet (somewhat boring) story that is surprisingly tender. BUT no one writes an orgasm like this author. Seriously, she should do seminars or something.

Last night made three times I fell asleep. Still bored enough to fall asleep or be easily distracted but interested enough to keep returning to the story. So there's that.

I have fallen asleep twice while reading the first 60 pages. I'm not sure if I'm just really tired or what, but that never happens with a book I love. I could typically plow through a novel this length on a work night. Further, I keep finding myself saying, 'Okay, so what's the point?'

Checked in after chapter 1 to say how much I loved the engaging characters and dialogue. While here I hearted that Duke is a former English Ed professor, yep, makes sense. She's definitely got the writing down, now let's see what the steam factor is.

'On a scale of one to ghetto, my apartment was a solid eight.' Bwhahaha! Oh dear Ms. Carmack, we shall be fast friends!

I disliked Lydia so very much for FOUR whole books. How on earth is my heart warming to her in the first chapter? Worse yet, my heart is aching for her to find happiness. Oh yeah, McDonald is a dynamite writer!

See? This is the kind of annoying lazy stuff that is irksome: the banter about 'sock mittens' when mittens hold all fingers like socks always do. It would be sock gloves. Not a big deal, but it becomes a big deal because it was such an easy fix.

Seriously? What kind of mom suggests spending your 18th birthday dinner meeting the first new guy after her father's death? Any birthday would have been tacky, but that is just ridiculous. Can't they meet some other day? ANY other day?

I JUST caught the mention of Thompson Twins& now I have Hold Me Now in my head. Lol

Seriously? Yet ANOTHER reference to the glades? On what planet does Gainesville connect w the glades? They are no where near each other. Heck I grew up closer to there & rarely thought of them. And Bigfoot was not in the damn glades. That swamp ape thing was. Facepalm

These unrealistic references to FL are getting annoying. Gainesville is a rural college town, so what gives with acting like she 'grew up' on the beach? Not likely, maybe a two hour road trip. & I would imagine it's not terribly different from West Virginia. Try Tampa, Miami, Jacksonville, heck, even Daytona, but Gainesville? Whatevs

Oki McSmoky, I'm going to give this a shot. I am hoping that this reference to Madison staring at 'The Smithsonian' which I don't think is even a thing & references to charters by their first & last name is not an indication of what's to come.

Two things: 1. I realize what was missing in the marraige trap. I didn't find Maggie or Michael attractive so the physicality fizzled. Kinda bad given te genre. Fortunately, the characters were well-constructed & the story was engaging. 2. With Carina & Max the heat is back! Theyare both attractive, smart & conflicted. It's on, baby!

Only 19 pages in. First impressions are that this is hokey, but I'm going through with the read. Might be wrong.

Torn! I want her to SWOON for this man! Enough with thinking for yourself, being a plausible character & such. Be dumb, he's dreamy, your fictional! I know, I know. Enough of that. I should be honored to have a heroine of substance. Dang it.
