Reading this book is like wading through deep water where a strong current runs. I’m barely keeping my head above. Heart wrenching. Astounding in brutality and also in beauty.

The readings in this book illuminate God & Christ in a very bare, no frills way. Yesterday’s reading was light in the darkness. Beauty in the broken. It’s a wonderful, simple devotion and I really recommend it.

I have found a place to rest in this book. A place to go. A place I keep thinking of when I am away. The best sort of book to read.

Just began this book. It is quickly taking me to my favorite place. To rural Louisiana. Where everything seems a little more real and a little more beautiful. Love and work and the earth. “And grief is only love’s own twin” sentences like this one settling into my heart and reading me into this book.
