Meg Jacobs is starting I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings (Maya Angelou's Autobiography, #1)
Reading this book is like wading through deep water where a strong current runs. I’m barely keeping my head above. Heart wrenching. Astounding in brutality and also in beauty.

Meg Jacobs is starting My Daily Pursuit: Devotions for Every Day
The readings in this book illuminate God & Christ in a very bare, no frills way. Yesterday’s reading was light in the darkness. Beauty in the broken. It’s a wonderful, simple devotion and I really recommend it.

I have found a place to rest in this book. A place to go. A place I keep thinking of when I am away. The best sort of book to read.

“So that no matter the words she says, the words Luca hears are, you are safe here, you are safe here, you are safe.”

I love the simplicity of Tozer. I love truth and the passion of his writing. These devotions speak to me on a pragmatic level and also a soul level.

This book is so beautiful. So full of light and hope, deep and connected love, loveliness and cruelty. There is much to be learned from all of the Bonhoeffers.

Meg Jacobs is starting God is in the Manger: Reflections on Advent and Christmas
This book is very beautifully written. I would recommend everyone to read it now. During this season.

“The lack of mystery in our modern life is our downfall and our poverty.”

“This joy is in fact incomprehensible, for the comprehensible never makes for joy.”

Meg Jacobs is starting Late Migrations: A Natural History of Love and Loss
Just began this book. It is quickly taking me to my favorite place. To rural Louisiana. Where everything seems a little more real and a little more beautiful. Love and work and the earth. “And grief is only love’s own twin” sentences like this one settling into my heart and reading me into this book.
