Enjoyable so far in the exploration of B’s times and character. In depth detail on the background and responses to his major works. Just finished reading the chapter on the Eroica symphony. Not enjoying or understanding the technical descriptions of the music and the terms used to explore its writing. Way beyond my capacity.

Absolutely fantastic. Brilliantly worded and constructed. The fabric and full plot remains obscure until the final page or so. Exhilarating writing.

Hugely readable. Gripping opening first 20pp.
