my library system is having a spring adult reading challenge! Frankly, I stand no chance of winning against retired ladies who read 14 large print romances every week but binging graphic novels makes me *feel* like I have a chance, and that's what matters

I have high hopes for this book, which hopefully doesn't shoot me in the foot later. One, it's faeries -- I love faeries. Two, it's giving me that academic and highly illustrative tone that I've been chasing ever since I read Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell, like 15ish years ago. (Or really, I just love footnotes -- more books should have footnotes for fun; academic writing shouldn't have such a stranglehold on them.)

Was this book written for me specifically to read? Probably not, but it feels like it, so obviously every page is a DELIGHT but especially this one.
